Choose your Massage:

Massage-1

Swedish Massage

This type of massage is designed primarily to relax muscles. Like most massages, it can increase circulation and lymph flow as well as aid in the removal of waste products stored in your muscles such as lactic acid. Promoting detoxification and oxygenation of stagnant tissue can help reduce emotional and physical stress and is often used for stress management.

massage4

Deep Tissue Massage

Usually refers to a Swedish massage on deeper levels of muscles tissue. This massage is done with greater pressure, slower strokes and effects deeper layers of muscles than Swedish/relaxation massage. It aims to help release chronic patterns of muscular tension and usually focuses on a problem area.

POW-medical-massage

Medical Massage

This massage requires a prescription from a physician and is intended to resolve conditions that have been diagnosed. It can be a very successful treatment for many soft tissue injuries. Since medical massage deals effectively with the base cause of the injury, it has been shown to be highly effective at reducing future chronic pain. We accept NYSHIP insurance, no fault insurance and some Cigna and Aetna plans. Contact us to check eligibility.

POW-sports-massage

Sports Massage & Stretching

A detailed, focused, anatomically specific massage that targets and corrects your unique ailments. We understand the needs of athletes of all sports. Our mission is to help you enhance performance, speed recovery time, reduce pain, soreness and tightness and avoid future injury.

POW-tp-massage

Trigger Point (TP) / Myofascial Release

Trigger Point therapy and Myofascial Release use pressure and stretching to relieve the irritated, painful spots in muscle tissue that can be felt in a distant area of the body, i.e. a TP in the shoulder can cause migraine headaches. Pressure is produced using fingertips, knuckles or elbow pressure directly on the trigger point, followed by stretching. Brings immediate pain relief and greater flexibility.

POW-amma

Amma Massage

Stems from Korean tradition and was further developed by Tina Sohn, the co-founder of the New York College of Health Professions, which is the college Kristin graduated from. The technique is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This technique is especially helpful in the treatment of headaches, digestive problems, PMS and painful periods, acute or chronic sinus congestion, etc. Just as effective as Acupuncture … without the needles!

Massage-2

Hot Stone Massage

Basalt Stones, pre-heated in warm water, are being used during the massage. Selected stones may be placed along the sides of the spine and sore muscles to melt tension away. Clients love this massage especially during the winter months.

prenatal-massage

Prenatal Massage

A nurturing massage for Moms-to-be, only performed after the first trimester. Nothing can prepare you for the demands of pregnancy! Relieve stress on your feet, ankles, lower back and neck. We use pillows, cushions and positioning to decrease pressure and increase support.

POW-active-release

Active Release Technique (A.R.T.)

A specialized soft tissue treatment to break down scar tissue and adhesions. Improves range of motion and decreases pain.

reflexology2

Reflexology

Reflexology has its origins in almost every ancient civilization. It is believed that the sole of the foot represents a map of the body and by stimulating certain organ reflex points on the foot the organs itself are being worked on. Reflexology is great to support detoxification of the body, promotes relaxation, sleep, speeds metabolism and supports organ sufficiency. Traditionally an hour treatment but can be added to any other massage as a half hour treatment.

POW-meditation

Massage & Meditation

The perfect combination for guaranteed relaxation. 30-minute guided meditation (CD) before your massage treatment relaxes and quiets your mind already before you receive your massage for maximum results often times clients don’t start relaxing until 30 minutes into their treatment. If this sounds familiar this might be a good addition to your treatments.

cupping

Cupping Therapy

During a session of this ancient form of alternative medicine, a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. Cupping therapy helps with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and can be used as a type of deep-tissue massage to break up scar tissue and reduce pain.

Aromatherapy

Several aromatherapy oils are used during our treatments at no charge.
